Emeka Chochoo, the former manager of the renowned Nollywood actor John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu, has unveiled the underlying cause behind the amputation of one of the actor’s legs.

This revelation comes in the wake of reports that Mr Ibu underwent a series of successful surgeries, one of which involved the amputation of his lower limb due to a severe infection affecting the arteries surrounding his ankle.

According to Chochoo, who served as Mr. Ibu’s manager for over a decade, the actor is showing promising progress in his recovery. Despite his challenges, a dedicated medical team is working tirelessly to address the various health issues plaguing the actor.

Chochoo disclosed that the amputation became a necessary step in Mr. Ibu’s medical journey due to an infection that severely impacted one of the arteries at his ankle. Unfortunately, this condition went unnoticed until it had reached a critical stage, compelling the doctors to make the difficult decision to amputate the leg.

“The medical team is addressing each issue systematically. The amputation of his leg was necessitated by an infection that severely affected one of the arteries at the ankle.

“Regrettably, blood circulation to the leg was compromised, and this issue was not detected on time. By the time it was discovered, it had already reached an advanced stage, leaving the doctors with no choice but to proceed with the amputation,” Chochoo explained.

He also mentioned that the surgery was conducted in Nigeria. Although Mr Ibu is currently receiving care in the country, there are plans in motion to have him transported abroad for further treatment.

“The surgery was performed right here in Nigeria. Soon, he will be transported abroad for additional medical care. In the meantime, he is receiving the necessary care in Nigeria,” added Mr. Ibu’s former manager.
